Kensington Protective Products, Inc., is a family owned and operated business. We began in 1954 as Custom Made Saddlery, Inc. known to for introducing the first Canvas Turnout Blanket, as well as the bareback pad to the equine industry.
My father discovered a fabric called Textilene, through his sister, my aunt. He felt the durability and inherent UV protection of the fabric could revolutionize the equine industry and it did. By the end of the decade, Custom Made Saddlery, Inc. was on its way to becoming the gold standard for fly control products, offering unparalleled durability and maximum UV protection to the equine industry.
With the Textilene‚ fabric in some eye catching plaids as our cornerstone, we launched Kensington Protective Products, Inc. in 2000.With a new design, image and, direction; we offered a collection of color coordinated equine protection products.Today, Kensington can dress a horse, tack, gear, barn, stall, and trailer with uncompromised durability and style.
Kensington is more than just another “pretty face”. Innovations such as the patented Protective Sheet and the Bug Eye Mask have established Kensington as a leader in the equine apparel industry. From the beginning, our products have been based on quality craftsmanship; “Tough Never Looked So Good” is more than just a slogan. Our fabrics undergo a rigorous quality inspection here at our Southern California headquarters. From tear tests, to exposure to heat; we examine all degrees of durability in order to ensure a quality product. That is how we can offer the industry’s only Lifetime Replacement Guarantee. The Lifetime Guarantee reflects our commitment to product quality and the equestrian community; all usable products returned through the program are donated to horse rescues throughout the country.
In 2012, I became the President and CEO of Kensington Protective Products, Inc. I’m deeply committed to our dealer base, customers and the company’s founding vision of quality, and innovative of products. Moving forward, we will become more integrated with the needs of the equestrian community with initiatives like our Ambassador Program, Organizational Sponsorships and Annual Plaid Design Contest. Internet based activities in social media and our website will allow us to engage more interactively with our customers and respond with solutions to make their lives easier and more productive.
Thank you for your continued support of Kensington Protective Products.
