WINTER BUYER'S GUIDE NEW 2026 TURNOUTS

7 reasons owners are switching to these new winter turnouts

Blankets that slip, rub the withers or soak through by February cost you more than the blanket did. Here's why savvy horse owners are switching to Kensington's new blankets and not looking back.

1 Stays put

It stays centered instead of sliding

A blanket that drifts to one side by morning rubs shoulders and leaves a flank exposed. The Surefit® cut is shaped for builds from refined to broad, with removable crisscross surcingles and adjustable elastic leg straps. "The way it is sewn ensures a fit that keeps the blanket centered instead of sliding down on one side." — Susan R., Verified Buyer (Midweight Mini)

2 Wither relief

No more rubbed withers

High-withered horses take the pressure where a blanket sits. New for 2026: elongated padded channels along either side of the wither lift the blanket off it to prevent pressure points and chafing. "Fits my 18hh Belgian perfectly." — Deborah, Verified Buyer (Draft Heavyweight)

3 Dry, not sweaty

Warm without overheating

Owners worry about a horse soaked underneath, from rain getting in or sweat getting trapped. The shell is waterproof and breathable, and the CoolPlus® lining wicks moisture off the coat. "Very effective in SF Bay Area rain conditions. It keeps my horse warm and dry." — Desiree K., Verified Buyer (Lightweight 80g)

4 1200D shell

Built for the horse that wrecks blankets

Fence lines and turnout buddies shred thin fabric. The 2026 turnouts use a 1200D stain-resistant treated ripstop shell. "Excellent fits, durable stitching, LIFETIME GUARANTEE, beautiful patterns and colors." — Mandy P., Kensington customer since 2006 (Lightweight 80g)

5 Frozen fingers

Fast on, fast off in the cold

Fiddly buckles at 6 a.m. in January are nobody's favorite. Quick-clip adjustable front closures and a wipe-clean tail cord make changes quick. "I love the clasps, they make it so easy to put the blanket on even if your hands are frozen." — AK, Verified Buyer (Lightweight 80g)

6 More coverage

An increased drop and reflective strips

The 2026 cut has an increased drop for more cold-weather coverage, plus reflective chest and hindquarter strips so you can find your horse after dark. Pair it with the matching 180g Neck Warmer for extra coverage. "Material is super nice. Warm and not crazy thick. Nicest blanket I've seen." — Nick A., Verified Buyer (Heavyweight 300g)
